Workforce Skills

Successful organisations constantly develop the skills of their workforce.  This not only increases the productivity of employees, but it also assists in attracting and retaining high quality personnel dedicated to professional learning, upskilling, and career development.

Ed Sapiens is committed to transferring new knowledge to boost employee effectiveness.  We do this through training, mentoring, and coaching.

These approaches all share the same objective, but Ed Sapiens defines each very carefully in terms of the methodological differences that provide important choice in how best to develop and improve employee skills in particular circumstances.

  • Training.  One to many knowledge transfer. Training is designed and implemented for a group.  Training is learning focused – developing a specific skill or body of knowledge to improve performance. Training is structured and synchronous through a relatively short workshop or seminar event.  Ed Sapiens training also offers an additional blended component with a post event online option to cover additional material, work through exercises, and achieve learner badging.
  • Mentoring. One to one, or one to a few, knowledge transfer.  Mentoring assists staff new to a senior role, or those aspiring to a senior role. Mentoring is development rather than performance driven, and is focused on the development of particular soft skills, professional judgement, and leadership competencies. A mentor attempts to impart wisdom and perspective gained from significant professional experience. Mentoring can be relatively unstructured and informal, and can occur over an extended and fluid timeframe.
  • Coaching. One to one knowledge transfer. Coaching can suit people established in a senior role who need a sounding board. Coaching is not necessarily about imparting completely new knowledge, but often focuses on enhancing knowledge.  Coaching can help an individual to overcome specific barriers that may prevent them performing at their maximum potential. Coaching can be either development or performance focused.  Coaching can be structured with regularly scheduled meetings, and can occur over a set, relatively short term, timeframe.
